Children and Adolescents

The American Association of Orthodontists advises that children be seen by an orthodontist by age 7 to determine if orthodontic treatment is needed. The first permanent molars and the incisors have normally come in by this time and excessive crowding, spacing, and bite problems can be evaluated. In some cases, early orthodontic treatment is needed to guide the growth of the jaws and incoming permanent teeth.

Most adolescents have all of the permanent teeth by the age of 12 or 13. In most cases, this is an excellent time to begin orthodontic treatment. Dr. Elvebak uses the latest technology, such as Invisalign Teen and the Damon System, to provide his patients with a great result with fewer visits and less discomfort.
